Conscript is a New Retro-Inspired WW1 Survival Horror Game, Coming This Year

Whether a triple-A survival horror game in the current gaming landscape can achieve the level of success seen by Resident Evil remains unanswered. However, numerous milestones in the genre are being made in indie games, with many fresh entries continually stepping forward. A new addition to the list has been unveiled - Conscript.

Catchweight Studio spearheads the development of Conscript, while Team17 takes charge of its publication. This game is advertised as a retro-inspired survival horror throwback, invoking classic gameplay mechanics, vivid pixel-art graphics that resemble the 2022 indie sensation Signals, and a compelling, terror-filled WWI backdrop.

In Conscript, gamers will assume the role of a French serviceman who embarks on a search for his vanished sibling, only to find himself swallowed by the ferocity of the Battle of Verdun, one of the most brutal confrontations of WWI.

This year, the game's anticipated release includes platforms such as PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. On June 10th, a game preview version will be available on Steam.
